Here is a collection of random things, from around my world that are quirky, cool and that inspires me. I have decided to share them with you in the hopes that it will be a well of inspiration for you as well. Remember to spread the word, and keep on designing:

The first image is a colorful place mat from Woolworths. I should actually do a separate blog post on it; it would make a wonderful color palette stuffed with inspiration. (*note to self). It just goes to show that even the most gaudy of colors can work in harmony, when used the right quantity and in the right shades. That is what you must remember. The next picture is of two plastic cupcakes (I called them muffins). They are just too great, that is about all I can say about them. They are very retro and would make an interesting extension to a foody website or a blog that is dedicated to the exploration of the humble cupcake (*another note to self). I should also suck out those deep purples and glossy reds and use them in a palette, stay tuned for that one. The final picture is a couple of groovy place mats from a company called Pepper Plum (http://goo.gl/xDIyh). Check out their website from some more works of art that they have created with the humblest of materials, namely polypropylene and PVC. Why Twitter place mats; don't you think they look like the Twitter mascot?

Those are very colorful, except for the placemat picture, which is in black-and-white. Perhaps you can make more web designs out of those quirky and vibrant favorites! After all, it does make sense to build on success, right?

These objects make a nice inspiration for a site design. Seeing with an appreciative eye lets one take inspiration from objects around and use them for a design project. An effective step to gather all these inspiration is by making a vision board which keeps everyone motivated at work.
