Inspiration is all around us, but if you are in a funk then look to these stellar sources of inspiration for a bit a help. Here is seven great, and sometime understated, places to look for a shot of creative mojo....
People are a great source of inspiration for a creative soul. Different races, hair styles and colors and just general individualism is an excellent way to kick start your creativity. Go to a bustling place and just watch the crowd, sit there for hours and just watch the parade of colors. This will not only distract you from your creative rut, if you are in one, but it will free your mind; getting away from a creative block is sometime the best remedy to loosen it. Places and travel, these two go hand in hand. Visiting new and exotic locals, experiencing something different is great. Yet if you are on a budget and you have a pressing deadline, maybe visiting somewhere new that is closer to home would be a better option. Geocaching.com (http://goo.gl/O18Q0) has the answer. This great service allows visitors to go places, while looking for hidden Tupperware, where they have never gone before. Even if you think you know the world around you, using Geocaching.com will open your eyes and allow you to see with an entirely fresh perspective. So get away from the computer and go rediscover your world.
Things and objects are another excellent source. Grab a glossy catalogue and just browse through it, visit a supermarket; check out the package designs on display or just Google objects for a great selection. Take a generic object, something that you use or see everyday, grab and pen and try to reinvent it. Use your old friend, creativity and find ways to improve its appearance or its functionality. You can also just check out TrendHunter.com for a wicked spread of objects and thing to fire your creative boosters. These great PC-inspired tablet navigators are a fine example from TrendHunter.com, check out the full article, complete with images here - http://goo.gl/k1j2K
Music is one of my favorite sources of inspiration. Go and explore a different genre from what you are used to, grab a golden oldie that you have not jammed to in years or just play something that gets you in a good mood. Something upbeat, something lively or something soulful and dark; anything really. Music has time and time again been proved to improve one's mood and in turn it boosts your creativity and concentration. Try foods that you would not normally try or think of trying. Remember that Japanese restaurant around the corner; The one with the Thursday night sushi special? Go and try it, let your palette embrace something wild, new and exotic! Okay so if you are not into the whole raw-fish experience; you could maybe try some of these high-in-vitamins-and-creativity recipes from one of my previous posts http://goo.gl/0VQPE, This decadent image is by AlexanderSebastian - you can check out his portfolio here - http://goo.gl/g5TPT.
